First and foremost, the 5 stars is due to their outstanding customer service. Noah was a pleasure to work with. We had some trouble (which I’ll get to below) connecting our GoTenna’s, and without hesitation Noah helped me swap out for another pair. I sincerely appreciate their help to make the experience a success.

Go exploring but stay in touch! Works wherever your cell service doesn’t, indoors or out.

I’ve been a satisfied user of these excellent devices since early beta testing. I keep a pair in both cars in case we end up somewhere without cell service and in case of emergencies. Even in areas where there is cell coverage but only one or two bars, using a Gotenna instead will keep your phone from losing battery quickly because the low power bluetooth radios use a fraction of the power that the cellular antenna does. This is the case at a ski resort I frequent, where there is spotty to zero cell coverage but the Gotennas work like magic, knowing that others have read your messages and dropping location pins to coordinate meet ups. The excellent offline maps even have the ski resort runs mapped out in some places! The battery life is great, turned off they last for months, and for a few days of normal usage, and the range has worked great for everything we’ve needed (and know the limitations – 1/2 mile in the city, up to a few miles rural areas or line of sight). The smartphone app is updated frequently with new features, they just added the ability to allow friends to ping your phone’s location, so you can meet up without having to wait for a reply or if they have their phone put away. I’d recommend these to anyone with a family or group of friends that like to go exploring but stay in touch. It even works great indoors – I tried it at a conference in a hotel where nobody had phone service but I could coordinate with coworkers easily.

goTenna – works are advertised, great support, enables Garmin Rhino-like GPS location sharing to SmartPhones.

I purchased 2 goTennas in Aug 2016 for use with the hiking group I help organize. We normally have 15-24 people hiking in the White Mountains every Saturday year round. Cell reception can be spotty or non-existent. When the group is larger we will spread out over 1/4 – 1/2 mile at times. GMRS/FRS Radios do work, but require the other person to hear it, and be able to respond.

Great Product

Bought these as a gift for my hubby, and he was ecstatic to test them out. Was very easy to set up, and so far we were able to connect over a mile away!

There was a bit of trouble when my husband tried to link our goTenna to our android phones. Turns out, it’s important to read the instructions before winging it. (not his usual modus operandi) They linked up with no problem, once we followed the simple directions. We have spotty cell service on our Idaho farm and this solves our communication problems. No more yelling out the back door and hoping he’s close enough to hear my call. Next step is taking them hiking. We have wide age gap between children and that sometimes translates to a distance gap when we’re hiking. It’ll be good to have the piece of mind that we can still communicate.

Love this!

This worked really well on our recent hiking trip in NH. I was with the kids and wanted to be able to be in communication if necessary. This really worked as advertised and I was thrilled with it! Nifty gadget that is totally useful for those who venture out of cell range but don’t want to be totally “off the grid”!
